  • Fitness Education Overview

We all agree that a lifelong habit of regular exercise is of primary importance for a healthy life. Our physical education program is designed to develop fundamental skills, which will enable your child to pursue the exercise or sport of their choice. Whether it be dance, horseback riding, swimming or soccer all participants need to know: the ready position, how to stop, how to make a fast start, turn, move backward and forward as well as many other skills. The emphasis is on the enjoyment of being active. The sciences of nutrition and physiology are woven into the lessons adding interest and making connections to the foods we eat. Teamwork and cooperation form the foundation for the pursuit of athletic activities and the enjoyment of competition. Children are active in the classroom as well as at play.

The many opportunities for control of movement assist in the development of personal confidence, self-motivation, and discipline. Our goal is to instill an enjoyment for being active built around the best we know of a healthy life.

Our staff has developed this overview to give you as a parent a format to better understand the different parts of a Montessori educational experience. Our goal is to clarify and highlight key components of the program your child will be engaged in. The elementary class is designed to balance each child's developing imagination with down to earth concrete materials in order to facilitate the development of their innate potential to its fullest.
